Incoming President Mike Payne's Message! / by Jeff Konkle

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Welcome, everyone, to 2023!  I hope all our members had an enjoyable end to their 2022 and a good start to the current year. It is time to look forward to what we hope to be a successful and event-filled year for the Pittsburgh chapter of ICRI.

First, I’d like to thank all past board members for your extended efforts through the COVID years, and extend an extra thanks to Jeff Konkle for his service and helping guide us as chapter president through that time. All of your effort is much appreciated! I would also like to introduce the 2023 Board of Directors, which includes several new members:

Board of Directors

President: Mike Payne (Building Envelope Consultants & Scientists)

Immediate Past President: Jeff Konkle (MAK Construction Products Group)

Vice President: Dante Marimpietri (Tremco Construction Products Group)

Treasurer: Patrick Allen (Atlantic Engineering Services)

Secretary: Phil Elgin (Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates)

Director: Evan Rowles (Atlantic Engineering Services)

Director: David Marofsky (MAPEI)

Director: Chris Smith (Mariani & Richards)

Director:  Lauren Vanderlinden (Surtreat Solutions)

I encourage chapter members who would like to contribute further or have questions/interest in becoming a more involved to please feel free to reach out to any of us. For a listing of Directors, review events calendar, and for general information, please be sure to visit our website (https://icripittsburgh.org/), or the national website (https://www.icri.org/) which should be updated for 2023 shortly. Something new we hope to develop this year is a social media presence for the chapter with a new LinkedIn page which is currently under development. Look out for an update regarding that once it goes live!

We hope 2023 will bring a lot of interesting and exciting events for our members. This will start with our annual Freeze-Thaw ball on February 16th @ 7:30pm at Lumberjaxes in Mt. Lebanon. This will be a fun social gathering to help ring in the new year and introduce new members. Beyond the ability to throw axes with fellow members, there will be great food and door prizes! Please reach out to Pat Allen to RSVP by 2/10/23. We are looking for sponsors for this event as well and appreciate the continued support of our member companies.

Our annual golf outing has been tentatively scheduled for mid-June and a save-the-date will hopefully be coming soon once venue is confirmed.

As fall months begin to approach, we are also hopeful in hosting a technical demo day for our members to bring product/process information and live hands-on demonstrations for all to benefit.

Of course, we will be scheduling several technical lunch meetings for members throughout the year as well. If members have a certain presenter or topic that they are interested in or can volunteer, please reach out to share. As always, we welcome any member opportunities for case study presentations or site/project tours throughout the year as well.

Lastly, I want to thank the membership for giving me the opportunity to serve as chapter President; it is a great honor. I am looking forward to this year, and hope to see as many of you as possible at the Freeze-Thaw Ball on February 16th. Please reach out to me (mike.payne@becsmd.com), icripittsburgh@outlook.com, or to any other board members, if you have any questions/ suggestions for the chapter or would like to try and become more involved.

Mike Payne
